Sasol GTC Championship Details

The Global Touring Car Championship shall be open to drivers participating in GTC Championship and there will only be one Champion for 2016.

The winner shall be the driver accumulating the greatest number of points during the season.

The 2016 championship dates and venues are as per the MSA Motorsport Calendar or as stipulated in a MSA Circular.

Scoring: All races will be taken into account in determining the championship. Points will be scored in each race as follows:

1^st – 50 points

2^nd – 38 points

3^rd – 28 points

4^th – 20 points

5^th – 14 points

6^th – 9 points

7^th – 6 points

8^th – 4 points

9^th – 2 points

10^th – 1 point

Additional points shall be scored, according to the results of the qualifying session(s) to establish the grid positions for both races at all national championship race meetings:

Quickest time (pole position) – 5 points

2nd quickest time – 3 points

3rd quickest time – 1 point

Three (3) additional championship points shall be awarded to the driver setting the fastest lap time, during each race.
