For the first time since the super touring car series held in South Africa during the 1990s, the country was introduced to a globally relevant racing series when a field of 2.0-litre turbo-powered racing cars took to circuits around the country in 2016. Featuring a common chassis, running gear, a single ECU to control performance, control tyres, suspension and other components, the SATC Championship exists to create a revival in South African circuit racing.

A professionally managed championship, with key members of the management team having decades of motorsport experience locally and internationally, SATC is based on the principles of some of the world’s most successful motorsport series; the likes of which have not been seen on the African continent for many years.
