Leyton Fourie accepts 2023 BMW M2 Cup challenge

“I am excited to announce that I have been accepted to participate as a full-time driver in the BMW M2 Cup Series for 2023. The series is run by Project 1 on behalf of BMW Motorsport and forms part of the DTM calendar with European races. I am excited at the opportunity and see it as a massive privilege and honour for which I am truly grateful. I want to win this championship in my rookie season and continue the trend.”

Leyton Fourie, still only 17 years old, will follow in the footsteps of his idols, Kelvin and Sheldon van der Linde and become one of only a few South Africans to race in a European saloon car championship. Following an impressive performance at the final round of the BMW M2 Cup at Hockenheimring, where he claimed a podium finish, Leyton returned home to clinch the Global Touring Cars (GTC) SupaCup Championship in his rookie season, beating out some seasoned campaigners. In 2021 Leyton also claimed the VW Polo Cup title in his rookie season, joining an exclusive list of drivers to have taken two national championships before turning 18.

Details of Leyton’s 2023 BMW M2 Cup season will be available soon.
