ADRIAN WOOD READIES FOR SECOND GTC2 SEASON FOR KYOCERA

Adrian Wood will be back behind the wheels of his KYOCERA Document Solutions South Africa Volkswagen Golf for the 2019 Global Touring CarsGTC2 season. This was announced by Volkswagen Motorsport_za during their pre-season team launch held at Zwartkops Raceway on Friday, February 2.

2018 was a steep learning curve for Wood, but one in which he excelled to end his debut season with a race win during the final round. The season ahead will see him capitalising on his solid form to emerge as a contender for the championship. There is no question about his team’s standing in the pecking order with three out of three championships already going their way. As with 2018, he will again be sporting the Kyocera Document Solutions livery.

“We’re looking forward to an exciting season at the front of the field in 2019” says an eager Wood. “There is no doubt that I’m part of the right team to contest for championship honours. We have laid a solid foundation during 2018 to build on and I’m looking forward to the start of the season. I would also like to thank my partners Kyocera for their continued support. GTC provides a solid media and engagement platform which we will no doubt capitalize on.”

The 2019 season will see two new circuits added to the calendar as well: The first of this will be Dezzi Raceway in Port Shepstone which will host the opening round of the season. Red Star Raceway in Delmas will see the season finale taking place around the clockwise configuration. Unlike most of the drivers in the field, Wood will participate in these rounds with prior circuit experience gained in other categories. The GTC championship will also be the only national category to have an event hosted at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit during the season. This will again form part of the Festival of Motoring.

Wood’s full calendar for 2019 will look as follow:
Round 1: March 1-2. Dezzi Raceway, Port Shepstone
Round 2: April 5-6. Zwartkops Raceway, Pretoria
Round 3: May 10-11. Killarney International Raceway, Cape Town
Round 4: June 14-15. Aldo Scribante Racetrack, Port Elizabeth
Round 5: July 26-27. Zwartkops Raceway, Pretoria
Round 6: August 23-25. Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, Midrand
Round 7: September 27-28. Killarney International Raceway, Cape Town
